About 11 Plus Blocks
Jay was driving his children to school, going over bits of the 11 Plus curriculum in the car the way you go over the twelve times table. Short, out loud, the same things again until they stopped needing thinking about. It worked, and it worked because it was small and it happened every day.
11 Plus Blocks is that idea, built into an app. Ten minutes, on the phone that is already in your hand, laying one block at a time. It went on the App Store on 29 September 2023 and it has been quietly improving ever since.
It is built and run in the UK, for the UK exam, by two people rather than a content team.
Who makes it
There is no content team and no question factory. That is the point: every question has a name attached to it and somebody to answer for it.
Dean owns 11 Plus Blocks. He builds the iPhone and iPad app, this website and everything behind them, and he is the person the support address reaches. The app is being rebuilt natively from the ground up, which is a long way of saying he is responsible if it is slow, wrong or ugly.
Jay had the idea and built the first version. He now writes the course material: the topics, the questions, the tip that appears after each attempt, and the vocabulary. He is not a professional tutor. He taught the 11 Plus to his own two children, at home, before he wrote a word of it down, and the course is that experience written out and then audited.
No investors, no advertising network, and nobody whose job is to keep your child on the app longer than ten minutes.
How the questions are checked
A child who is told the wrong answer does not just learn the wrong thing. They learn to distrust the moment they were sure. So checking is built into how a question gets in rather than into a review afterwards.
Ten illustrations are gone for good: they were hosted on a service that has since been deleted. Rather than show your child a broken picture frame, those questions are served without the image, or not at all.
What we do with your data
Every question, quiz and vocabulary card works without signing in. Signing in is optional and exists for one reason: so a purchase follows your child to a new device.
There is no advertising in the app and no analytics software inside it. We do not know which screens your child opens, and we are content not to.
It is stored on the device and copied to your own cloud storage, your iCloud on iPhone and iPad or your Google Drive on Android. That is your storage and not ours. We cannot read it. Nothing is ever sold on.
All of it is written out plainly in the privacy policy, and you can delete your account whenever you like.

11 Plus Blocks goes on the App Store, with maths and English, quizzes and vocabulary cards.
The whole question bank read against its own answers, and the checks that do it built into every content update since.
Verbal and non-verbal reasoning had been tested in the quiz papers since the start, but their own courses held stand-in questions written in-house. They hold 200 and 220 real ones now, every non-verbal question with its own drawing.
A native rebuild: faster, works offline, light and dark, and it opens straight into a question instead of a sign-in form.
Papers you can print for the kitchen table are on the website now, and arrive in the app in the next update. Android comes after that.
